Jo: “Today we’re talking with Dr. Max Lippman, the top rated chiropractor in the Bay Area – working out of his Blackhawk office. Dr. Max, what’s one thing you’re seeing a lot these days?”
Dr. Lippman: “During this winter season, many patients come complaining of sinus pressure that won’t stop after battling a cold. Headaches, facial pain, ear pain, ringing, and dizziness are all symptoms of having pressure in the sinuses. They may have tried a decongestant or cold meds, but the constant pressure continues to torment them, whether at work, hanging with the family, or trying to get some sleep.”
Jo: “I had no idea chiropractic could help with sinus pressure. How does it work?”
Dr. Lippman: “The sinuses of the head drain into the throat, and when the tissues around the neck and throat get inflamed, those drainage passageways can get blocked, creating a backup. By getting the tissue to be less swollen through gentle massage and adjustments, the passages open up and everything begins to flow again. It’s a simple solution to a common problem.”
Jo: “Does it hurt to get adjusted? How long does it take to see relief?”
Dr. Lippman: “Adjustments typically do not hurt, and for many people, they find the adjustments to feel good! Normally, after an adjustment and some lymphatic drainage, the patient will notice results immediately. Sometimes follow-up adjustments are needed depending on severity.”
Jo: “What can this sinus pressure lead to if untreated?”
Dr. Lippman: “While this condition often can improve without treatment, there are times that chronic sinus pressure can lead to infection, ear pain, or vertigo. These conditions can be confused with TMJ (jaw pain) as well. If someone is sick and the sinuses won’t clear up, it’s a good idea to be checked by a chiropractor.”
Jo: “How old do you have to be to see a chiropractor? I know a lot of kids are battling sinus pressure, ear infections, and headaches, too.”
Dr Lippman: “We see both pediatric and adult patients at our office, and tailor our adjustments to fit the needs of each patient, from one-year-olds to ninety-one-year-olds, we see great results, regardless of age.”
Jo: “Wow, that’s great to know. What’s the best way to get a hold of you?.”
Dr. Lippman: “You can give us a call or text us at 925-964-9189, visit our website at www.blackhawkchiropractor.com or find us on instagram @bayareahealth.”
Jo: “Thanks for the chat, Dr. Max. Is there anything you’d like to add before we take off?”
Dr. Lippman: “Just that we have both chiropractic and massage at our office. 4 out of the 6 therapists working here are currently or have worked with the 49ers in the past. I’ve been in practice since 2009. FSA or HSA funds for both massage and chiropractic are accepted here, and some insurances will cover chiropractic care. Our office specializes in neck pain, back pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, shoulder injuries, and auto accidents.”
