Support our local school, support the Blackhawk community!

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted all of us in many ways, and our local schools are no exception. The Tassajara Hills Elementary Foundation, otherwise known as the school’s education fund that is managed by parent volunteers, is struggling to raise the necessary funds to pay for support staff for the 2021-2022 school year.

What does the Foundation typically fund?

The Foundation funds positions that the State does not fund. Through the generous donations of our school community, this year we were able to offer our award-winning reading intervention program with three reading instructional assistants, seven paraeducators to give extra support in every class and reduce teacher/student ratios, a part-time office assistant, and additional librarian hours for virtual read-alouds and curbside library book checkout during remote learning. In pre-pandemic years, we were able to also fund a vocal music instructor, a credentialed reading specialist, and technology equipment for our tech lab (part of the reason many of our students were already familiar with chromebooks when we transitioned overnight to remote learning!).

Why are we struggling?

We have been unable to hold in-person fundraisers like our ever-popular Auction, Winter Ball, and Healthy Hawk Hustle- events that we have relied on for the bulk of our fundraising in past years. We also have been challenged at recruiting new parent volunteers to join our efforts, as we haven’t had the opportunity to network on-campus this past year. Without a team of volunteers, there’s less hands available to lead creative fundraisers like our recent Valentine’s Day curbside pickup event featuring local small business owners like Brie Grazing Boards and Birdie Bakery.

Blackhawk community, we could use your support now more than ever!

This is a community-wide effort to continue funding the resources and programs that have rightfully earned Tassajara Hills the excellent reputation that we all appreciate. This is a difficult time for many, but if you are in a position to give, we greatly welcome your support.

You can kindly donate here:

Anyone, including businesses or individuals, can donate. You do not need to have a student currently attending Tassajara Hills. We also have sponsorship levels if you’d like to consider joining our top donors as a Silver, Gold, or Platinum sponsor; reach out to Foundation President Rich Link at for more details.

Every dollar stays at our school and goes directly towards enhancing the Tassajara Hills education, allowing us to continue keeping Blackhawk the esteemed community that makes us all proud residents.

Thank you for your support- Go Hawks!
