What an exciting summer it has been! We have all been enjoying our beautiful California weather. Fall golf is arguably the best golf, with crisp mornings and a refreshing start to the day. Niners kicked off the month of August with a fun game day challenge. The format was called “throw away”. Each player got to throw away scores from two holes, deciding only after finishing that hole to either throw away or keep the score. Congratulations to Jane Chaplin, Mary Porteous and Leigh Bultman for taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. September’s game challenge was called “STATS”. Players were awarded points for hitting the fairway with your tee shot (1 point), hit the green in regulation (1 point) and putting with either 2 putts (1 point) or 1 putt (2 points). First place went to Channing Azzolino with an impressive 18 points and second place to Fran Davis with 16 points. Honorable mention went to Jeanie Egan with two chip-ins on back- to-back holes. Thank you to Helen Tarantino and Andrew Brown for always coming up with exciting game day formats for all of us to enjoy!
