Welcome Niner’s 2025 Captain Carol Gray
Niners Captain–Here I come!
I look forward to being the Niners’ 2025 Captain, with wonderful Fran Davis at my side. We have a committed incoming board, with plans to pull off exceptional Charm Days, Nine & Dines, a May 1st Angel Cup, and a July 31st Invitational that will certainly fit Channing Azzolino’s big dreams.
My husband Don and I bought a home in Blackhawk in fall 2021. We moved here from the other side of the Bay, Atherton specifically, where we had raised our collective six children and lived for many a year. We were eager to own a golf cart and live on a golf course that was just outside our door. I had just started pickleball, so Blackhawk was the perfect choice for us.
I had never held a golf club until I retired. My husband, Don, didn’t think that my energy would match the game, so he bought me the cheapest clubs around. When I lost two irons in chipping practice last winter—somehow two lost in two weeks— Blackhawk pros had never heard of my brand. That says something about Don’s confidence in my ability to pick up golf.
Don also joked that I should wait to buy my first golf outfit until after I learned to say “tee” versus “stick”. If any of you know me well, it takes a while for me to get names straight. Now I have a good number of golf outfits, and I have greatly benefited from the Niner’s welcome into the Blackhawk game. Let’s have a great year, and I encourage more members to sign up for our fun.
