Kartunz wants to improve your driving experience

The goal of Kartunz is to make driving your vehicle more enjoyable and safer. To that end, for 17 years, they have been offering customized features that can be added to just about any vehicle from SUV’s to all types of cars, trucks, and RV’s to improve safety, performance or cosmetic related solutions. Most of their staff have been with them for many years and collectively have over 100 years of experience, which allows them to come up with unique solutions for any upgrade you might need for your vehicle, like the secret compartment recently added for a customer that opens biometrically using the client’s fingerprint. Common add-ons include features that make older cars safer like blind spot sensors, rear cross traffic sensors or dash cameras.

Tracy Porter bought the business in 2020 during the pandemic to compliment his fleet management company, Premier Solutions, which provides similar services for commercial vehicles. His biggest inspiration is his happy customers and hearing their appreciation. After graduating from Louisiana State University where he majored in Finance and played football, he spent 14 years in sales, marketing and sales management in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices working for Johnson & Johnson. During this time, he also earned a Health Care Administration Certification from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. His first venture into the auto industry came after moving to the west coast and starting a marketing consulting business where his first client was a Toyota Dealership. After helping several Toyota Dealerships improve their businesses, he had an opportunity to buy a Mercedes Benz dealership. “After selling my interest in my Mercedes Benz Dealership, I was waiting for an opportunity to buy another dealership in the Bay Area. While speaking to a former client of my dealership, he inquired if I was interested in getting into Fleet Operations because his company, PG&E had over 20,000 Ford trucks in their Fleet. I thought this would be a temporary opportunity until a dealership became available, however, it didn’t turn out that way. Business grew over time which forced me to get an office and hire staff, and the rest is history.”

Tracy and his family have lived in Blackhawk since 2005. His daughters, now in college, attended St. Isidore and Carondelet. In addition to running two businesses, he also volunteers his time to work with at risk youth to expose them to the possibilities of attending college, so they can seriously explore this option when the graduate from high school. He enjoys exercising, reading, golf and spending time with his family. Always looking for ways to give back to his community, he was a past member of the University of San Francisco board of directors, and currently sits on two boards: NCAA and National Football League Alumni Association (currently serving as Chair of the Board).
