Picture this: a child snuggled up in a cozy blanket, feeling safe and loved despite the challenges they may face. This heartwarming scene is made possible by the dedicated efforts of volunteers at Project Linus.
As I left a recent doctor’s appointment, I had the pleasure of encountering a group of compassionate women gathering for a Project Linus meeting. Their mission? To create blankets for those in need, offering comfort and warmth in times of difficulty.
This local initiative, spearheaded by the Diablo Valley Chapter, has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals across the Bay Area. In 2023 alone, their efforts resulted in the creation of an impressive 2,615 blankets, all destined for various charitable organizations.
From providing solace to patients at UCSF Benioff – San Francisco, to offering a sense of security to foster children through Set to Thrive, and extending support to families at The Ronald McDonald House – Oakland, Project Linus blankets have touched lives in profound ways.
Now, you too can be a part of this incredible cause. Whether you’re skilled with a sewing needle, adept at crochet, or simply passionate about creating something meaningful, your contributions can make a world of difference. Imagine the joy on a child’s face as they receive a handmade blanket, knowing that someone out there cares.
To get involved and start crafting for a cause, reach out to Joan at (925) 286-6680 or email DiabloValleyLinus@gmail.com. Together, let’s stitch warmth, comfort, and hope into the lives of those who need it most. Join Project Linus today, and make a blanket that makes a difference.
