Barkin’ In Blackhawk Winners!

Wow! Thank you, Blackhawk Community, for entering a lineup of awesome dogs this year in our annual photo contest fundraiser. You helped us raise $4,000! Join us in congratulating the following winners:

Fashionista

Winner: Joey

Human: Dianne Yamada

Joey’s all dressed up and looking forward to attending the Fur Ball, Humane Society Silicon Valley’s annual black tie gala. Joey, a rescue dog, loves to party and celebrate his furever family!

Naughtiest

Winner: Peeky

Human: Jo Peek

Peeky was picked up wandering the streets of San Leandro and was brought to the shelter in Dublin. When I saw him, he had JUST arrived. There was no option to hold him or play with him. I could only view him in his cage from a distance and make a decision. I was told to come back the next day because there would be a lottery, as there was SO much interest in him. The full story is available upon request… and it’s a doozy! The next day, he had his necessary shots and came home with me. He is the perfect dog, except for the occasionally dog toy destruction!

Best Granddog

Winner: Tas

Human: Susan Moore

Tas is our 8-year-old Golden Doodle Grand Dog who brings pure joy to our lives. She has so often brightened our days with her unconditional love and her uncanny ability to know just when you need her affection most. We love our Tas.

Dynamic Doggie Duo

Winners: Bailey and Patch

Humans: Lydia and Amy

Bailey and Patch are both rescues. Bailey is ~9 yrs and Patch is ~3 yrs, They have grown to love each other and find a new cuddle position every morning.

My Best Friend

Winner: Matilda Mae, Jr

Human: Tracey Lauer

Mattie would love to win this contest because she has a true sense of entitlement. Her demands are endless and she has clearly won the battle of “who is in charge here?” She has been known to “tap” on complete strangers if she knows they are packin’ biscuits. She has also chased people down the street who were innocently passing by our home. If you are wondering if the police have been at our home, the answer is yes. If you are wondering if my children turned out any better, the answer is marginally. Clearly, you expected me to put Matilda in the “Naughtiest” category. Never gonna happen. She wouldn’t allow it.

Best Traveller

Winner: Colby

Human: Anne and Paul Kuelz

Colby is our perfect dog. He came from the 2nd litter of our dear Madison, and he travels everywhere with us. We drive him to Seattle frequently to visit our daughter, Jessica. Colby brings us and everyone around him great joy!

Best Trick

Winner: Scout

Human: Kay

Scout is our female yellow lab, full of joy and energy. She bring us so much joy; she is lovable, likes to learn, is a strong athletic girl, and is loyal to “her pack” (us). She is all lab and all about retrieving! She loves retrieving – balls, sticks, logs, whatever and whenever. She likes a challenge – the bigger the better – she thinks logs are sticks! Look at the picture carefully to see the size of what we threw. We threw this log out in middle of the water; she brought it straight back to us on command, all grins – and was willing to do it again…and again….and again. We love her and her companionship; she says the feeling is mutual.

Precious Puppy

Winner: Milo

Human: Susan

Milo is our precious new Australian Labradoodle Grand Puppy. People often mistake him in photos for a stuffed animal! His likeness to the iPhone emoji makes us chuckle. We look forward to many years of love and fun with our adorable grand-puppy.
